Employment Opportunities at WATS/WAVR

Annual E-E-O Public File Report WAVR-FM 2-1-08/WATS 4/1/08
The purpose of this E-E-O Public File Report is to comply with section 73.2080© (6) of the FCC’s 2002 E-E-0 rule. This report has been prepared on behalf of the station employment unit that is comprised of the following stations:
- WATS (Sayre, Pa)
- WAVR-FM (Waverly, NY)
And is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and on our website.
The information contained in this report covers the time period of the 12 months preceeding 2/1/08 for WAVR and 4/1/08 for WATS.
During that time frame we had no full-time openings.
The stations take their E-E-O requirements and responsibilities seriously.
Additional E-E-O outreach efforts:
- Scholarship Challenge. At each of the 6 Scholarship Challenge High School & Junior High School quiz shows aired on the stations in Jan-Feb & Mar each year, the host (President and General Manager Chuck Carver) reads the script to the participating students & their parents & advisors. Overall audience estimated at 750 persons.
- Internship with Ithaca college. The stations have arranged an internship for one student at nearby Ithaca College, inconjuction with Scholarship Challenge…which will allow the student a chance to see a radio program from its initial stages through to production. For the first quarter of 2007 he was I-C sophmore Drew Hodge.
- Career Days. Station Manager Meade Murtland attended the Mansfield University Job Fair 4/19/07. General Manager Chuck Carver attended the 11-02-07 Career Day at Athens High School, where he spoke to 3 classes (total # of students approximately 75) about broadcasting careers.
- New York State Broadcasterrs On-Line Career Fair. Station also took part in the March 07 NY State Broadcasters On Line Career Fair
- Monthly Announcements. As suggested by the State Broadcast Associations…the station airs on the 1st and 16th of the month, an announcement outlining its EEO Policies & Practices.
- Station Tours. Station Manager Meade Murtland offers tours of the stations to school & community groups.
